60 Fallen Soldiers
60 Fallen Soldiers
Engraved alminium
262.50 x 109.40
2016

Commemorating the 60 soldiers from the Shire of Werribee who fell during World War I. Their ultimate sacrifice demonstrates the spirit of the ANZAC: mateship, loyalty, courage, love of country, integrity, endurance, faith and strength.

Carrier pigeons are well known for their loyalty, courage and endurance. Their employment in World War 1 was extensive and their impact significant. In this artwork, there are 60 carrier pigeons, each representing one of the 60 young men lost to the war.

With pride and gratitude we acknowledge the families of the fallen, who still reside in the City of Wyndham, their loss and their legacy.
